What is a family?
A family consists of a domestic group of people (or a number of domestic groups), typically affiliated by birth or marriage, or by analogous or comparable relationships — including domestic partnership, cohabitation, adoption, surname and (in some cases) ownership (as occurred in the Roman Empire).

What are the pros and cons of having only a child in the family?
Pros
-The child will not have to quarrel and fight over things with his/her siblings since he/she does not has one.
-Having one child in the family means that parents will not have to take care of more than 1 child,pay less and have more quiet times.
-The child will be able to get all the attention from his/her parents
-Couples can maintain a comfortable standard of living, not only for their child but also for themselves. An only child certainly benefits from having the family financial resources focussed upon him or herself.
-Parents of only children no longer have to worry about their child being lonely or at a social disadvantage. Mobility and the resources to support an active social life have put an end to that. Only children have friends to stay over on a regular basis and at school they have no problem fitting in and making new friends. Many of their classmates are also only children.
-Parents of only children have more time to focus on the general aspects of child development and learning issues and can give their child that individual attention that makes such a difference.


Cons
-The child will not be able to experience a sibling relationship
-The child will be pressurized by parents to be successful.
-no one to care for when he/she grows old.
-The child would not have a brother/sister to fight with, play with, laugh with or perhaps a sibling to confide in.
-The child will feel sad whenever he hear from his/her friends about how much fun hey had with their siblings.
-Since the child does not have any siblings, he/she will not learn to share things with others.As a result, the child will slowly turn to become a selfish person when he/she grows up.

Divorce
As defined by www.dictionary.com, Divorce means a judicial declaration dissolving a marriage in whole or in part, esp. one that releases the husband and wife from all matrimonial obligations.

Why do married couples get divorced? Perhaps it's because one party has hurt the other half physically or emotionally, in such cases, a divorce seems inevitable. However, with the increasing divorce rates all over the world, it makes us wonder if every divorced couple has been through such a painful situation. In my opinion, I believe that not every divorced couple filed a divorce beacuse of some form of emotional or physical abuse, instead, couples nowadays aren't taking marriage as seriously as it should be and was taken in the past.

Marriage is being taken way too lightly, what happened to "in sickness and in health... till death do us part"? People are trying ways and means to find fault with their marriage partners so as to have an "excuse" to get seperated. Marriage is a very scared vow that should not be treated as a joke or just something people do on impulse, we should be evry sure when making the decision on marriage, knowing for sure that he/she is the right one for us.

What is culture?

This House believes that divorce is a social ill.

Positive effects of Divorce

• For those who like the freedom of movment, marriage makes them less mobile. With divorce, there is little need to accomodate the other family members. There is no longer the need to consult one another for opinions when it comes to decision making matters.
• The dependent spouse learns to become independent and will then be able to lead & control their own lives.
• Emotional gains especially repreive from abusive marriage - protection by the law from abusive spouse. They become emotionally and psychological stronger and confident.

Negative effects of divorce

• Responsiblity fot the care of the child/children, household or domestic chores are fallen to the shoulders of the lone parent- usually the woman.
• Rise in dysfunctional families
• Divorce seen as an easy option and single-parenthood an accepted norm. It might send the wrong meaage to the young people.
• Guilty consicence with regars to their children.

ADVANTAGES

The child will not have a problem with the things they need as parents only need to but for 1 child.

The child will not have a chance to quarrel with siblings as they dun have them.

DISADVANTAGES

They will tend to be lonely at home most of the time as in the current society, both parents are working.

They will not have a feeling of having sliblings, resulting in do not have a learning chance to care for one another.
